Damen Oosthuizen (b. 1981) is a South African multi-disciplinary artist based in Cape Town. He holds diplomas in Graphic Web Design and Development, and Web Development and Multimedia from Prestige College, Bellville (2002 and 2003).
In 2023, Damen earned a BA in Multimedia Studies: Computer Generated Multimedia from UNISA. His current work is grounded in mixed media installation, exploring contemporary experience through light, form, and conceptual tension.
His 2023 solo exhibition, Truth & Deception, explored illumination, obscurity, authority, perception, and fragility. Using South Africa's energy crisis as inspiration, he metaphorically used light and shadow to examine these themes.
Damen has participated in several South African art exhibitions, earning 2nd Place at the UNISA Emerge 3rd Year Exhibition (Pretoria Art Museum, November 2023). His piece Deconpyling was a finalist in the 2024 Sasol New Signatures competition.
His ongoing practice pushes creative boundaries, blending conceptual investigation with technical exploration. He examines perception, question structures, and create visual experiences that speak to transformation, storytelling, and the hidden layers of truth.
